East Rochester High School Senior Sam Bacci and Junior Jacob Youngs have been accepted into the Finger Lakes Youth Apprenticeship Program.
Sam, who is enrolled in the 21st Century Tech program at EMCC, applied to the youth apprenticeship program in December with the hopes of gaining work experience and learning about future career options. Mid-February, Sam found out he had been accepted into the program! He will be joining Rochester Industrial Control, Inc. in a formal co-op position, as part of his acceptance into the youth apprenticeship program. While there, he will be learning about manufacturing through hands-on training and mentorship.
Jacob will be joining Polyshot Inc. through a formal job shadow. Jacob is enrolled in the Automated Manufacturing And Machining program at EMCC and says he looks forward to this opportunity because "it will help me understand the working environment of the average machining/manufacturing company and may help me obtain a future job or co-op opportunity."
These apprenticeships present Sam and Jacob with a great opportunity for his future development in the trades!
A Signing Day event was held on March 8 for all EMCC students who were selected through the program. The event was an exciting experience for all of the youth apprentices, as the organization highlighted Matching Day selections. Students were individually called up to the podium to sign official paperwork and get a photograph with a representative from the program and the business with which they are signing.
