Russell, William Bradford Waddell and Alexander Majors, owners of a freight business, was set up over 150 relay stations along a pioneer trail across the present-day states of Missouri, KansasNebraskaWyomingColoradoUtahNevada and California. Riders, who were paid approximately $25 per week and carried loads estimated at up to 20 pounds of mail, were changed every 75 to 100 miles, with horses switched out every 10 to 15 miles. Among the riders was the legendary frontiersman and showman William “Buffalo Bill” Cody (1846-1917), who reportedly signed on with the Pony Express at age 14. APRIL 4, 2019 - National Vitamin C Day - April 4

While Vitamin C is widely recognized for warding off colds, the vitamin is also clinically proven to be a powerhouse in other areas of health, too. For example, Vitamin C may reduce blood pressure and potentially lower risk of heart disease. Those at risk of gout can lower that risk by increasing their intake of Vitamin C.

Topically, Vitamin C keeps skin healthy by protecting it from oxidative damage caused by daily exposure to light, heat, and pollution. The popularity of topical vitamin C products has risen dramatically.

NATIONAL ALL IS OURS DAY â April 8

National All Is Ours Day can be looked at as a time to reflect on all of the beauty of nature and all the wonderful things in life.  All the natural wonders of the world are there for all to enjoy.  Become aware of all of the beauty in your surroundings.  All of these spectacular gifts we have been given are shared by all.

Another way to view National All Is Ours Day is to appreciate everything we have. Don’t dwell on what we don’t have.  All that we have is a blessing, and our lives are a blessing.

Some people also look at it as a day to share all that you have.  The greatest times and the greatest things in life are those that are shared.

April 29, 2019 - NATIONAL PEACE ROSE DAY â April 29
Each year on April 29th we recognize National Peace Rose Day.   The day is set aside to honor the “Peace” rose, a well-known and fruitful garden rose. French horticulturist Francis Meilland, developed the Peace rose between 1935 and 1939.  When Meilland foresaw the German invasion of France, to protect the new rose, he sent cutting to his friends in Italy, Turkey, Germany and the United States. It is believed these cuttings were sent to the United States on the last plane available before the German invasion.
